ELECTRONICS RECYCLING PROGRAM

SUSTAINABLE SATURDAY PROGRAM

The board has renewed it's contract with Vintage Tech Recyclers to continue to offer the FREE, SAFE, SECURE electronics recycling for 2013 and 2014. The drop-off location will be at the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds (52700 Van Dyke - Municipal Grounds SOUTH entrance).  Events will be held the last Saturday of each month, between 9:00am and 1:00pm, with the exception of December.  Watch Shelby Township's homepage for the next scheduled event day.

This program is open to residents, schools, churches, businesses, libraries and municipal offices.

Please check our flyer for a list of acceptable items.

For those interested/concerned about information stored on their computers hard drive we have a copy of the "Data Security and Hard Drive Wiping Information" document provided by Vintage Tech Recyclers which describes the software used to wipe the hard drive and how they destroy the hard drive if it is still readable. We also receive a certificate from Vintage Tech Recyclers letting us know that all the information has been wiped from the computer hard drives dropped off at our collection events. You can see their hard drive punch machine in action on our Videos page.

So far we have had 6,078 vehicles drop off 800,429 pounds of electronics. To see the breakdown for each event, open our stats sheet.

SEEKING COMMUNITY GIVE-BACK PROGRAM CO-SPONSORS

For the past few years, members of the Township's SWARC have hosted the Electronics Event on the Township grounds the last Saturday of every month, except the month of December. The event is held from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. On average, about 300 cars participate in the event each month. This traffic is generated through word of mouth and advertising that is ongoing through the efforts of the SWARC.It is anticipated that the gross revenue will be around $800.00 per event. While the SWARC is excited about the opportunity to raise revenue for the Township, there is an opportunity to share the revenue with the community for fundraising activities.
