The Township offices will be CLOSED on Good Friday, April 19, 2019. Inspection requests received before 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, will be scheduled for Monday, April 22. Inspection requests received after 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and before 4 p.m. on Monday, April 22, will be scheduled for Tuesday, April 23. Requests will be scheduled as staffing and activity levels permit.

Per a new Building Department policy, insulation certificates, blower door tests and final grade certificates must be submitted with an original signature of the responsible third party. If you are not able to submit an original signed document, we will ONLY accept e-mailed copies DIRECTLY from the responsible third party. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Shelby Township Building Department works to obtain compliance with national, state, and local construction codes through the process of permit issuance, plan review, and onsite inspections of work performed.
The Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the State of Michigan Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes. In addition, the Building Department administers and enforces ordinance provisions pertaining to fences, sidewalks, tree and woodland preservation, unsafe buildings and zoning.
