Shelby Township offices are open to serve you by appointment. To comply with Executive Order 2020-145, Shelby Township has limited public access to township facilities to scheduled appointments. To make an appointment at Township Hall by phone, call 586-731-5100 and follow the prompts. For questions regarding voting and elections, contact the Clerk’s Office at 586-731-5102. To schedule an appointment with the Department of Public Works, call 586-731-5990. To reach the Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department, call 586-731-0300.
Many tasks can be handled online, over the phone or through one of the township’s drop boxes. The Shelby Township Fire Department and the Shelby Township Police Department are responding to emergency calls. Please use discretion when seeking emergency services.
Trash pick-up will continue regularly on scheduled pick-up days, and the Department of Public Works is responding to all calls. Please call 586-731-5990 concerning DPW business and dial 844-464-3587 to reach GFL Environmental for calls concerning trash pick-up.
Please note that, in light of the ongoing virus emergency, the Building Department modified its inspection procedures. The department is actively performing permit processing, plan reviews and inspections.You may call the Building Department at 586-731-5969 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to conduct business.
Inspections of owner-occupied homes are restricted for safety purposes. If your project involves an owner-occupied home, please refer to the information on the Virtual Inspection Program.
For other projects, if an inspection request involves the interior of a building, the building or area under inspection must be vacated of personnel at the time of inspection to avoid person to person contact. In all cases, the department observes social distancing and other orders of the Governor.
The Building Department is asking the community to adhere to Best Practice Guidelines for the Construction Industry set forth by the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity.
As we work together to combat the spread of COVID-19, please maintain social distancing in our parks. To help facilitate this, we’ve closed some amenities such as playgrounds and active recreation sites such as basketball and volleyball courts. The 41 A District Court remains open for all essential matters during this time. The court is adjourning all but essential issues as there will be limited in-person assistance at the front counter. Make payments via the court's dropbox or online. Closures for the 41 A District Court are set by the State of Michigan’s Court Administrator.
