Shelby Township Open Meeting

Under Governor Whitmer's Executive Directive 2020-02, the following has been directed:

All public bodies of departments and agencies of the State, including but not limited to boards, commissions, committees, subcommittees, authorities, and councils, must, to the extent practicable, consider postponing public meetings or agenda items that may be deferred until a later time.

All public bodies of departments and agencies of the State subject to the OMA that must continue to meet must do so by means sufficient to enable meaningful access and communication for all participants. Participation by remote access technology, including conference calling, real-time streaming, or other platforms is acceptable, and sufficient to form a quorum, so long as public access and participation are preserved.

Public notice of the time and date of each meeting of a public body of a department or agency of the State subject to the OMA must be given in the manner required by the OMA, which includes the publication of the notice on the public body's internet website. The public notice must include sufficient information such that the public's right to address a meeting of the public body is preserved.

 


 

From the Shelby Township Planning and Zoning Department


In an effort to follow the practices of the Open Meetings Act, Shelby Township will hold its Aug. 6 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting via video conference call. Public comments regarding agenda items can be sent to the Planning and Zoning Department ahead of time. These comments will be read or summarized aloud and responded to at the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting. 

Email planning@shelbytwp.org to submit comments/questions for the 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting. Submissions may be received until the end of the meeting. Should you have comments and not be able to comply with those requirements, please call Planning Director Julijana Misich at 586-726-7243. If you do are not able to reach Julijana Misich, you may  leave a voicemail message. Thank you.
