Shelby Township’s biggest Christmas event and tradition, the annual Christmas Aglow and tree lighting occurs at, kids crafts at Kris Kringle Castle, marshmallow roasting and the “Holiday Express” train display. 7 p.m. on the township municipal campus at 52700 Van Dyke Ave.
Before the official lighting of the township Christmas tree, there will be carols before the township’s North Pole Ambassadors present Santa with a key to the township and light the tree. Photos with Santa Claus will then be available in the Shelby Township Library until 8:30 p.m.
To enter to become a North Pole Ambassador, township residents and Utica Community Schools students can complete a Shelby Township Christmas Coloring Contest sheet available at shelbytwp.org/Christmas and submit it to the Shelby Township Library by 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Judges will select ambassadors before they are sworn into office by the Shelby Township Clerk on Nov. 23 at Shelby Township Hall.
The Aglow features traditional favorites such as horse-drawn carriage rides.
