Shelby Township is dedicated to making sure it's residents have access to the best utilities around. While the township does govern resident's water and sanitary sewers, it is important to remember that Shelby Township is only a liaison when it comes to the other utilities.

In the event of a power outage, residents are encouraged to contact DTE directly (below) to ensure resolution in a timely manner. If you suspect a gas leak or smell natural gas or a rotten egg smell, leave the area immediately and contact Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050.

Residents are asked to only call the Shelby Township Police non-emergency number, 586-731-2121, for the following:

  • An outage has affected streetlights
  • There is a downed power line

If a residents wished to file a complaint against a utility company, please contact the Michigan Public Service Commission.
