Businesses, organizations, individuals and families are invited to enter. This is a great opportunity to promote teamwork while having fun. Registration forms will be accepted beginning September 23. Scarecrows will be displayed on the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds from October 7 through November 1. All entries are invited to register for and attend the Shelby Township Halloween Spooktacular on October 11 and pass out candy next to their scarecrow display.

Get ready for a hauntingly good time at our Halloween Spooktacular on October 11, set amidst the enchanting ambiance of Heritage Lake. Gather your little ghouls and goblins for a frightfully delightful evening of trick-or-treating around the lake, where businesses and families will be stationed at tables, eagerly doling out sweet treats. But that's not all – indulge in some seasonal delights with cider and donuts (while supplies last), unleash your creativity with spooky crafts and take a stroll through the kid friendly haunted gardens. Businesses, community groups and families are invited to join in on the fun and setup a table to handout candy - $10 for a spot. Tables and chairs will not be provided, however, when registering you can pay an additional $10 for a table and two chairs. We ask that if you hand out candy that you dress up for the event or decorate your space with a theme. An award will be given for the best decorated space. Little goblins and ghouls will enjoy this haunt-filled evening at the nature center! This merry-not-scary event will feature spooktacular decorations, live wildlife meet and greets, festive games, candy, bonfires and marshmallow roasting, food trucks, ventriloquist Richard Paul’s “Ha Ha Halloween” show featuring life size puppets, magic and music, and furry friends from the Humane Society of Macomb.
New this year is a Sensory Friendly Hour. Individuals who prefer a calm, quiet environment can now join us for a special hour on Friday. We will keep the overhead lights on, turn off strobing/flashing lights, and keep the music off while participants play games, meet animal friends, and enjoy the “Ha Ha Halloween” show!
This event is fun for all ages. $5 per resident; $7 per non-resident. Infants 2 and under are free. Register for a faster check-in experience and to receive event updates.

Haunted Nature Center flyer
Lorenzo Lo Piccolo we will be showing samples of Michigan's fall mushrooms, discuss their safety and identifications, relationship with local trees, and fungi facts and myths. He will review foraging tips, safety, etiquette and sustainability. We will then walk through the nature center trails to discover and identify some local mushroom species. Please come prepared with hiking and weather appropriate fall clothing. Ages 16 years and older. Registration required. (SHROOM.01) Free event.
Gobble-up some interesting facts about the fascinating wild turkey. More than just a Thanksgiving staple, we will explore the cultural and natural history of these amazing birds through educational activities, stories and crafts. Children ages 5-14 years old can practice shooting at our Burgess Youth Archery Range (equipment and instruction included). Registration preferred (NCTURK.01). Free event.

The Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department invites area businesses, product consultants, artists, crafters, restaurateurs, bakeries, service organizations, and more to display and sell their products, provide food samples, and share marketing materials with area families.
This fun event is hosted by the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department at the Shelby Township Activities Center at 14975 21 Mile Road, just west of Hayes Road where there is room for 60+ tables within the building.

- $15 Shelby/Utica resident, $20 non-resident per 6 foot table with 2 chairs - $5 additional if electricity is required
- A limited number of product consultants of each type of business accepted, i.e. Tupperware, Avon, Color Street, etc.
AASHOP.02 Food Vendor (Restaurant, Bakery, any business selling food to be eaten on-site):
- $30 Shelby/Utica resident, $35 non-resident per 6 foot table with 2 chairs - $5 additional if electricity is required
- 100% of food sales is kept by the seller
- Any food prepared on-site requires a permit from the Health Department

Bat Hike (Ages 5+)
7-9 PM, SAT, Sept. 6
Enjoy a summer evening outdoors while learning about this amazing creature of the night. After an introduction to bat biology and playing an echolocation game, we will hit the trails and search for bats flying in the night sky. Using an electronic echolocation detecting device, we will be able to see a visual display of each bat call on an interactive, scientific-level spectrogram. Find out which bat species live in River Bends Park in this fun evening event. Registration required (BATHIKE.04); program starts promptly at 7 p.m. $3 per resident / $5 per nonresident.
Guided Hikes (All Ages)
12:30-1:30 PM, SUN, Sept. 15, Oct. 6, Nov. 10
Join us for a guided hike on our beautiful trails led by one of our knowledgeable naturalists. We will discuss seasonal changes, native flora and fauna, and ways to identify signs of animals. Dress appropriately for weather conditions. These are free events. Registration preferred.

UFO's Over Michigan (Adult)

Secure a booth at the Shelby Township Flea Market and join us for a day of trading and selling. Each space, approximately 15’ x 15’, costs just $15 if purchased before July 19. Partici-pants must bring their own tables, chairs, displays and protection from the sun and rain. Admission is free for shoppers. Sellers will receive additional information a couple of days before the Flea Market.
