The Shelby Township Fire Department offers BLS - Healthcare Provider CPR and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED courses designed by the American Heart Association.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Course
The BLS - Healthcare Provider Course is held every month. The 2024 course fee is $90 per person, which includes a certificate, manual, and pocket mask. The BLS - Healthcare Provider Course is designed for the professional emergency care provider such as nurses and paramedics and those who wish to expand their skills beyond the Heartsaver CPR Course.
This course will teach you the mechanics of one and two person CPR and obstructed airway in adults, children and infants. Automatic external defibrillating is covered. A certificate is issued following an 84% passing grade for the required written and skills examination. The certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course
The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is held every month. The 2024 course fee is $80 per person, which includes a certificate, manual, and pocket mask. This Heartsaver Course is intended for lay responders such as teachers, daycare providers and all persons whose employer requires basic CPR training.
The Heartsaver Course teaches the mechanics of cardio pulmonary resuscitation and treatment of an obstructed airway in adults, children and infants. Automatic external defibrillating is covered. The certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue. The program length is approximately four hours. Please call (586) 731-3476 ext. 3 for further information.
