Please be sure to put all trash, recycling and yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular trash day. Place recycle bin and bundled cardboard on opposite side of driveway away from trash tote. In a continuing effort to provide convenience, expand the recycling program, and divert recyclables from solid waste disposal sites, the township has supplied each resident with a 95-gallon wheeled cart to store recyclables during the week until collection day. This allows residents to increase the amount of recyclables they can store each week, eliminate the necessity of multiple 18 gallon recycling bins, and should make it very easy to roll out for collection and processing.

95-gallon recycling carts are required as part of the curbside recycling program. 

Recyclables are collected by a separate vehicle and should be placed separate from your household solid waste, bulky waste and yard waste.

Common recyclable products include: Clean food and beverage cans, glass bottles and jars, cardboard, paper bags, magazines and catalogs, junk mail, office paper, phone books, newspapers, glossy ads and household plastic (#1-#7). Large corrugated cardboard should be flattened to 2’x 2’ or smaller prior to collection. Unfortunately, styrofoam cannot be set out for collection at this time.

When placing recyclables in the bigger 95-gallon bins, please do not use plastic bags. When placing recyclables in smaller, 18-gallon bins, please place all items in a clear plastic bag for the collectors to grab and toss on top of the truck.

Free Home pickup of reusable clothing, shoes household goods has resumed for residents of Shelby Township.

Simple Recycling provides residents with a free, convenient way to dispose of unwanted clothing and other goods and protect the environment.

Although collection was suspended during the pandemic. It resumes with a few key differences.

Residents no longer have to wait for their scheduled recycle day to put their unwanted clothing and household goods out for pickup.

Pickups must be scheduled online at www.SimpleRecycling.com or call 866-835-5068. A reminder email will be sent the day before the scheduled pickup.

Residents no longer need to use the dedicated orange Simple Recycling bags for collection. However, the bags have been shared among the communities for residents to use until gone, if preferred. Items can be placed in any waterproof bag(s) or box(es), clearly marked Simple Recycling.

With pickup no longer tied to a resident’s recycling day, the placement of items for pickup has changed as well. Clearly marked waterproof bag(s) or box(es) can be placed on the front porch or in front of the garage door by 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day.

Residents can set out items such as clothing, shoes, accessories, and other household discards such as kitchenware, tools, toys, and books or other small household goods in working condition.
