In continuing the legacy of its founder and namesake Jo Burgess, the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center provides nature-related experiences and activities to help visitors of all ages develop and rekindle an awareness and appreciation for the natural world around them.

The nature center and the trap/archery range will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving.

Conservation Medicine and Wildlife Photography

Join us for a 2 hour informative and highly entertaining presentation on photographing and working with wildlife in Africa. Our host is Dr. Carl Palazzolo, a Michigan native that has been practicing wildlife veterinary medicine for over 45 years and has been teaching wildlife photography on all 7 continents for 35 years. There will be a special emphasis on how wildlife veterinarians work with the rhinoceros to help minimize the impact of poaching. Ages 16+. Pre-registration required. $5 per person.
