In continuing the legacy of its founder and namesake Jo Burgess, the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center provides nature-related experiences and activities to help visitors of all ages develop and rekindle an awareness and appreciation for the natural world around them.

The nature center and the trap/archery range will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving.

Haunted Nature Center (Sensory Friendly Hour)

Sensory Friendly Hour! Individuals who prefer a calm, quiet environment can now join us for a special hour on Friday. We will keep the overhead lights on, turn off strobing/flashing lights, and keep the music off while participants play games, meet animal friends, and enjoy the “Ha Ha Halloween” show! Little goblins and ghouls will enjoy this sensory friendly haunt-filled hour at the nature center for this merry-not-scary event!

Enjoy Ventriloquist Richard Paul’s “Ha Ha Halloween” show, a hauntingly hilarious program with life size puppets, magic, and music.

$5 per resident; $7 per non-resident. Infants 2 and under are free.  Pre-register for a faster check-in experience and to receive event updates.
